Oat Milk

Making dairy free milks is becoming more usual. I used to think that making our own dairy free milk was a time-consuming and complicated process. For that reason I was limited to buying dairy free milk. When I started trying to make my own dairy free milk more often, I found that it was very simple and more practical than buying a dairy free milk.

However when I started to make my dairy free milks, I didn’t like the taste, well, they had no taste or very little flavor. And for that reason he avoided preparing my own dairy free milk at home. But our palate gets used very easily and much more quickly when we also want the change in us.

Advantages of making our own dairy free milk at home
  1. We don’t have to carry to our home a huge milk packages (I used to, a lot)
  2. We can make our flavors and combinations that we like best (we can vary a lot more)
  3. We can choose to sweeten to taste or make it simple (we reduce the excess sugar)
  4. It takes more cheap than buying dairy free milk (will notice the difference)
  5. We save in unnecessary packaging (1 pack per liter is a lot plastic/carton)
  6. We avoid the dyes, preservatives and flavor additives (health thanks)
  7. Fresh dairy free milk (homemade)

Today I prepare my dairy free milk in seconds. Because practice also helps a lot. Recently I also bought a ChufaMix(a machine to make dairy free milk very quickly) – The process is very similar. Put the oats in the glass, and add 500ml of water. With a hand blend mix for 2 minutes. Slightly lift the dowel and wipe the oats with the Chufamix stick. Add another 500ml of water, wrap and it’s ready. You can use the food processor, and use the “ChufaMix” as a strainer.

With these processes in less than 2 minutes we have a ready dairy free milk – tasty, fresh and made by us. I have no doubt I’m grateful that I started to prepare my dairy free milks.

Oats can contain gluten – if you want to prepare this gluten-free dairy free milk, you can buy oat flakes with the indication of not having gluten.

Ingredientes
  • 50g
    Oats, flakes (I used whole oats)
  • 2
    Dates (I used Medjool)
  • 1L
    Water

  1. In a food processor (or dairy free milk machine) place the oats, the stoned dates (cut into pieces) and the water. Mix at full speed for 2 minutes.
  2. Use a cloth strainer or a thin cloth to strain the liquid. Making some pressure with your hands.
  3. Store the dairy free milk in a tightly closed glass container.
  4. You can use it or or store in the refrigerator.
